Actuarial Analyst - Winnipeg, MB

Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of actuarial valuations, including the reconciliation of data, development of assumptions, asset summaries, contribution requirements, and preparation of the final report and results
  • Preparation of actuarial valuations for accounting purposes
  • Costing benefit changes and interpreting the results
  • Performing extrapolations of the financial position
  • Interpret and apply the provisions of the pension and benefit plans and various applicable provincial and federal legislation
  • Process pension and benefit member events such as retirement, termination of employment, death, relationship breakdown, etc.
  • Maintain up-to-date information with legislation, Income Tax Act, and actuarial standards of practice requirements and assist with drafting and documenting the implications of changes to internal processes
  • Accurately maintain and update client databases on a regular basis
  • Assist in year-end and annual processes
  • Quality control of year-end data input and verification of program output; and
  • Collaborate on special consulting projects as assigned
  • Any other duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values

Required Skills & Experience

  • Graduated from a Bachelor program in a related field (mathematics or business administration/commerce)
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Delivery of group presentations would be considered an asset
  • Solid working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to set and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to maintain confidentiality related to private and business matters
  • Completion of one or more actuarial exams
